Session 2: Overcoming the mobility crisis by replacing fossil by renewable fuels

This session discusses the technological options for a shift from fossil to Renewable Energy fuels for vehicles and the corresponding policies. Top issues are the potential of biofuels, Renewable Energy based hydrogen, electric vehicles and hybrid cars. The different applications and their requirements will be compared.

This session will discuss the two main challenges for a global increase of the biofuel production: The International biomass certification in order to guarantee sustainable biomass production methods and a memorandum on bioenergy promotion between national economic needs and the WTO: how to make them compatible?
